This collaboration is essential for the successful transition from strategy, to plan, to action. Our positive attitude helps convert challenges to opportunities. We endeavour to constantly learn & more importantly unlearn where required. We bring the latest but proven frameworks and technology for our clients. We always share our approach upfront with our clients and in most cases co-design it with them to get the best out of our engagement. Some of our past projects are highlighted below, and get in touch to see what we can do for you.

Asset Management & Investment Planning
Every organisation/company, large, medium or small has an ICT budget. It can range from billions of $s to paltry $5000 (2 laptops,2 mobiles,1 landline, Wifi router) . IT Asset Management and Investment Planning is no different and needs careful thinking.
It may not be a big issue for small companies but for large and medium organisation, ICT is most often an essential service with burgeoning cost and careful planning is required for future of the organisation.

Solution
Systems thinking Ltd (STL) has several years of experience in helping clients with their ICT Asset Management and Investment Planning. This ranges from managing NZ$300 million in a large public sector organisation to NZ$10million departmental asset management.

STL uses C.O.R.E , a customisable framework, to help clients with their asset management and investment planning. We provide a sustainable and easy to operate framework, marketplace accredited tools and practices and help train staff to seamless provide inisights and plan. If you already have a Microsoft 365 platform, we can also help integrate with it rather than bring new capability to the organization. We also implement Cloud based Strategy, Architecture and Asset Management tooling.

IT Current State Assessment & Roadmap
STL have helped clients with their Current State Assessment of IT systems and processes. We have helped categorize current IT assets at both business and technical level based on our proven technique including versions, make and model, SW licensing needs, inter-dependencies, issues and risks. We generally include future IT needs as ‘Capabilities’ instead of a particular technology. This is to ensure that the process does not influence any procurement decisions related to Software/Hardware decisions which are generally subject to separate procurement rules.
STL consultants are ideally placed for this as we are technology and vendor agnostic. We bring best Industry practice from Enterprise Architecture to modern IT practices such as Human Centric Service Design , End User Computing, DevOps, Cloud, Cyber Security, etc. but tailored to the unique needs of our clients with considerations of their operating environment and constraints.

Not all capabilities are similar and not all come in the same shapes and sizes. Some capabilities could be achieved with minor tweaks of existing capabilities whereas some may require significant investment. Sometimes, capabilities are also defined by policy. Thus, a prioritization is required to understand different horizons that the roadmap should look at delivering.

We have delivered both sequential ‘Waterfall’ style roadmap or a ‘Horizon’ based roadmap to support parallel activities such as in an Agile manner or when there are different funding sources available. The roadmap has helped clients build business cases to remediate issues or to implement new capabilities. We also help clients with their business case and IT financial & investment planning.

Strategy Consulting
Clients often approach Systems Thinking Limited with a general idea of what they need, We listen and are able to jump right in with our expertise and help define problem statements using techniques that matches organisation's current programme methodology as even for our strategy deliverables we always provide a plan.
We have authored several Digital Strategies and business case using State Services Commission (SSC)’s Better Business Case (BBC) guidelines (required for programmes more than $15m). SSC’s BBC guidelines requires case made for strategy, management, economic, commercial and financial. It includes financial case using Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA), Net Present Value (NPV) calculations as well as calculations on ongoing operational costs and cost avoidance calculations. This is apart from our strong technology understand and challenges that may need mitigation.
We have delivered digital sub-strategies such as in areas of Digital Identity, Cloud, AI, API/Integration, Infrastructure modernisation, customer channels, products and services. We have also been re-hired to refresh the strategy from our repeat customers.
We have also led several Scaled Agile Framework –Lean Business Cases for our clients leading to establishment of Multi-Disciplinary Agile Standing Team (AST). The process required Digital Strategy, Capability and Reference Architecture to be endorsed by several governance bodies leading to a Lean Business Case to be endorsed by governance bodies. This required calculations of Estimated Investment over the lifetime, Capex/ Opex split of investments, estimated resources, overhead and technology costs, estimated cost savings and benefit profile.

STL consultants use world class strategy tools and training to continuously enhance customer deliverables in an enduring manner. We have also led several facilitation sessions on behalf of our clients which is highly sought after.
